a day's walk

by Charlie Morgan

disoriented from sleep then
greeting each day with a grin;
it's a conversion reaction, i know,
from my real-life frown of glory.

i notice a centipede's 408th leg was itching;
he could only bend back to leg 404;
so he rolls and rolls; he got that itch.
have to record this, Kai's mind at stake.

he makes the runway with my mind;
his words, i pile up, then Voila!;
warm them and spew them out.
turn to my team: see WHAT i've done!

law and order is changing it's name,
trying to fit into a changing society;
it is known as Unlawful and NoOrder.
finally, some sense to meaning. papaw,
this book's cool. finally i"m in him.

your imagination is years of growing and evolution. some of your references and ideas and random flakes of text are what make good poetry what it is. i am not always so much about the entire tale as i am bits and pieces. you have a poets mind and i appreciate that. not everyone, or few...have that. excellence.

These little peeks in the reality of who you are, these are gems, little reflections of you and your heart.

I really love how you two are blended in this, how much each influences the other. It continues to be a pleasure reading about Kai and papaw.

An understanding between child and grandfather comes through which warms the heart!
