time happens at once by Charlie Morgantoday's current crossword calls out to me;
shhhh! i whisper. i'm having fun over here.
it says nothing, stays folded, remains blank.
the river was rolling; sun bearing down;
the carousel of life spun. controlled.
a rickshaw of dreams pulled-up even.
a wadi in Africa awaits for
filling with mountain water,
gathers it's cloak for oases.
sunshine came in drops;
each one reflecting the other.
soon the sun will be empty;
if i feel misunderstood today,
it's because yesterday
was just dress rehearsal.
subdued by the colour grey, i gave up.
the dismal day wagged it's tongue at me;
smirked.

| Posted by Glenn Currier on 10/13/09 at 03:29 PM Every stanza could be a poem in itself - each to the point of bursting with meaning. And I relate differently to each. The dismal days have wagged their tongues at me and depressed me with their stern judgment - what I did was not all THAT bad, damnit. I yearn for the drops of sun. And yes, it does seem as if it has been drained. You visit the wadi - I go with you, vainly hoping for some dryness. I am still chewing on the fifth stanza. Maybe by lunchtime it will be ready for digesting... something to look forward to. Thanks for this gem, Charlie. I suggest if for potd. |
