Instantaneous

by Jennifer Lawrence

I lost myself the night we met
That slow shy smile I won’t soon forget
Eyes turned down
Head tilted toward the ground
My heart beat rapid to the sound
Of your laugh
And then you looked up
And you looked right through me
You looked up
And in an instant you knew me
I felt naked to your gaze
Naked in the haze of the hot summer night
And now I’m lost to you
Lost to you because I can’t give myself to you
Lost to myself because I’m trapped with myself
And these thoughts of you
In my dreams
In my days
In so many different ways I only think of you
The things I would do with you
If I could do the things I wanted to
Maybe one day my dreams will come true
Until then I just keep losing myself to you.

I can hear this as a song. Nice phrasing.
