Rememberance Day Assembly

by Shannon McEwen

“You won’t believe it momma!!”
Flush cheeks plump as words spill
From fat pink lips

“We got in trouble today”
Gleeful secrets twinkle
In huge brown eyes

“The WHOLE school did!”
A dramatic pause
Before two raised eyebrows

A whispered confession
“We had to put our heads down
for two WHOLE minutes!”

Lips lift and separate
White teeth peak between words
Unrepentant in his solidarity

You catch the mischievous innocence of childhood in this loving memory of an event in your son's life.
