I Still Am

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

my crumbled papers became an ipod
I always forget to charge
much like myself I waste the battery
on friends who waste their sound
on cries of why me
instead of the joy that should be found
in knowing
they still breathe

my hair has become grey instead of brown
which I always forget to color
I don't waste my time
too many colors abound
to see with my eyes
so much joy to be found
in knowing
I still see

my skin has become wrinkled as are my clothes
which I always forget to smooth
as I run around wrinkling the world
so much joy to be found
in knowing
I still am

This is going in my favorites. I absolutely love this. One little thing, though, you have a minor typo that caught my eye-4th line the word "their".

Sweet poet, I still am, too. It's always encouraging to find others on a similar path of curves and wrinkles. My hair has more than a few glints of silver as well and I enjoy it knowing every time I look into each of my grandchildren's eyes it comes with the territory and I find myself very territorial. Going in my favorites as one of the best reminders around. Thank you!

This is fantastic, a great reminder that just by breathing you're living, so live! I like how it takes you through, and makes you nod your head, and laugh, and smile at the end, well done and thanks for the reminder!

it's so rare now to see people appreciate what they have in life. this is a great reminder that "it's not the end of the world" whatever it is that is troubling us.
