Step Away by Alison McKenzieThere it is,
Dread dawning on the day of
Technology speaking
Instead of you.
I lingered a moment too long,
Spoke outloud
To the void
Left in the wake
Of final chapters
And closing remarks.
While the traces of me
Seem swept away at last,
I stand aside
To let the whirl
Of wisps and whispers pass,
I am silenced by time passing -
I can’t seem to catch up.
I’ve never faltered so long,
Lost in these moments of hope
And glimmers,
Nine months after
The final word,
Fresh storms brew
Over old earth and stone.
I weep -
But it's time to step away.
(This music - reach through the emptiness.)

Over old earth and stone." I like the elemental play here, reminding me of cycles and debris that seems to find its way back, but then is swept out at last. Let it wash on through, dear friend. |
