25 years, 4 days - I love you all, goodnight.

by Jason Wardell

And they love me in rehab.
I’m just there for moral support,
but I already have friends--
meth, alcohol, coke addicts--
clamoring about me. I’m
a rock star, bigger than John
Lennon.

And my brother tells me
about my visit: the girls say
he’s cute and must be
talented, the girls say
you’ll have to give me
his number, the girls say
he should visit more often.

And I’m flattered the most
by the girls with the poorest
judgement.

Being admired is a unique feeling, isn't it? Whether it comes from those those with rich or poor imaginations... To try to describe that special little jumpy feeling upon hearing of the appreciations in others' minds and eyes... that is a challenge for a poet. You have made a descent stab at it here. Thanks for the moment.
