Final Goodbyes

by Clara Mae Gregory

The seraphic sun has gone away
The bittersweet breeze quietly cries

Broken branches bend and sway
Fingertip twigs scratch lunar eyes

Darkness descends and abounds
Azure mauve skies turn and melanize

Sepulchral silence entombs the sounds
On the day we exchanged final goodbyes

Your warmth forever left my day
Leaving me grievously asking why

The seraphic sun has gone away
The bittersweet breeze quietly dies

this so called older poem did exactly to me what it did when it was so called, young, it exacted tears from me, copious amounts, sufficient to leave me high and dry. not to worry there are more tears welling up in me as I type.
