"I wish I were"

by W. Mahlon Purdin

As smart as I
Once thought I was.
And
I wish I were
Not as ignorant as I
Now know I am.

...zoweee! a gentle well-placed kick o' reality...my tam is off to you my man...what a delightful perspective you arouse...i'm envious.

Its a shame it takes getting older to have this most accurate perception. I can remember my more arrogant past and ask myself how could you be so stupid? Currently, I wish I knew more, and understood more.

Very well said. :) I love the message in this. Short, sweet and most certainly to the point.
