Love is multigenerational

by Glenn Currier

They say that addiction
is multigenerational
depression too I suppose.

That’s a hard truth
unless you’re looking
for an excuse.

But watch yourself
that meal, that moment
of selfless listening.

In the tedious minutes
and exquisite touches
of fingers on skin

We propagate
the multigenerational
gene of love.

Good write Glen. I'm happy that someone seems to know what love is.

It's an addiction propogated the planet, continues to. And we can do this right, without all the unnecessary hate that wants to hop a free ride on the addiction wagon. But, you are correct (imho) love is multigen., it's so simple, to me it's like this: what I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction. Don't blink, every moment is the Guru. Pondrous poem here Glenn. Delighted, thanks.

I like the way it (the love) trickles down the gene byways, the way it gets passed on. This is lovely!!!

Your first stanza had me giggling in front of the oven, taking out a mouthwatering pan of cornbread, because as I was thinking over that first stanza I saw it applied to my own love of fresh out of the oven cornbread (slathered in REAL butter-how's that for an addictive gene?) and remembering standing among the rows of corn in different seasons and different days of sunshine and rain within each season. Corn fields whose yields we milled locally and grew up grannies, and later, nannies with genes whose tassels are tousled and kissed with love. We're passing it down as surely as we're passing it around right now. Multigenerational and multidimensional as well and showing what the arts of love truly are. Highest marks again Glenn. You're just outdoing yourself with the pen these days and I love it!

As has been said, keeps the world going around! Or is that lust? Hopefully some love gets passed on as well. Fascinating comparisons of addictive behaviors and/or symptoms.

Yes, serving the very purpose of Mother of all mothers, Mother Nature, helplessly.
