Surprised

by Glenn Currier

The abundance of your love
always surprises me.

In spite of my stumbling
you are always there
with your hand out
to help me up.

You walk always gently with me,
your hand in mine
even though most of the time
I can't feel it.

How could I bear to be human
without you?

The realisation and acceptance of being human is a tough one. It's good to know that we're not alone in it though.

Yes, I agree, that this can be read on several levels, but what come out strongest with me is the interpretation on the higher, mystical level, expressing yourself as a child of God.No matter, your actual intent, it is a wonderful poem that I thoroughly enjoyed! :)

I enjoyed the way you widened the focus at the poem's end.

If I make sure there is no "me" in between as I jump in the space of "we", I am always surprised to be loved. And love's premiere property is that when it exists it can never be mistaken for anything else, and nothing else, no matter how worthwhile or supposedly grand, can ever be passed off as love. We should all be so surprised. Delighted. Thanks.
