a bargain day

by Charlie Morgan

an early morning sees the owl first.
dawn brings her hem up for the day;
spends her day gossiping-about-how
Angels're having babies with mortals.

so, i can see already, the indigo-brush
of an Oklahoma storm-cloud, rain-heavy;
becomes a leviathan to fields, crispy with
hope of a drink, that is always there.

drink that has been always there; postmaked:
Kansas-Monday, Oklahoma, Texas if any is left;
chant the motto: the beauty of the desert
is that somewhere in it lies an oasis.

a bargain day: when you can feel your pulse and know it.

Stunning expression; and I love the tone of the poem, seems a bit didactic at first, but then affirmative, strongly so.

Charlie! I bow to you with this piece... I feel like I'm walking through an art gallery. Very vivid and introspective. Very searching for life feel. ~N

Reads like a bargain to me. I love how the first stanza is feathered with wisdom and far sightedness. You guide as you glide us over thirsty fields. Yes it reads like a bargain to me!

agreed, this is stunning, absolutely stunning...the images you've put together read effortlessly, yet are so unique and rich (I'm just drawn in)...and in the end I'm left feeling so alive (does that make sense?)

My lawn is soaking it up right now - a much needed drink and rest from the heat. "Dawn brings her hem up for the day" What a lovely and enticing way to word it. The entire first stanza could be a poem in itself. Feeling my pulse... and your rhythm... and smiling again, your gift in my eyes and ears...

Aye, and the big ones pass on through and fill the Atlantic. Nice write Charlie.
