Flower In The Wall

by Charles J Hannan

I started my day with a kiss from my wife
Coffee and some cereal
A warmer day I thought of doing some gardening
Maybe pull some weeds
Feeling like a fresh new day
I casually walked outside
Looking for the most troublesome weeds
The big ones first
Those sticky ones
And the one with prickly thorns
The ones coming out from the edge of the house
All down to one
This one is near the front door
It has to go
But I will take a break and come back
30 minutes turned into the next morning
As I stumbled outside
Before my dose of caffeine
I noticed the only weed that was still there
The one that was sure to be first on my list to pull
Has something now that was not before
A side to it yet to be seen
A delicate
Purple flower and another one on the way
Did you think you could get away with that?
By putting on that mask of desperation?
By making me smile a little
Purple and blue?
You thought right

Ain't that right. sometimes the uglist weed has the loveliest flower if given time. Nice poem. I enjoyed it a lot.

HAHA, but you can't fool me though, gardening and pulling weeds is still on your list of things to do, no matter how pretty the flowers are :p

Congrats on POTD. A very clever weed, to put on a pretty disguise. :)
