River Turns by Alison McKenzieA dry river-bed,
Latent in a sky without rain
Until yesterday
When I got your message. You
Saturated my world once again
With the sweetness of your voice
And the way it vibrates right into my core,
Rolls around,
And wanders out again
Flowing onto parched plains
With the wild abandon
That only you incite.
07/10/2009 Author's Note: My best guy friend of all time, River, found me yesterday after a two year absence. The sound of his voice sends me to Bliss! Such amazing energy!

Posted by Maude Curtis on 07/10/09 at 01:21 PM Yea for you. My best guy found me after 45 years and we're now in the process of discovering what we've missed. Glad it didn't take you that long. I know the feeling of your poem well. |

Posted by Kris Mara on 07/10/09 at 09:24 PM love the descriptions you use in this (the name allows for a lot of that and you use it very well)...very uplifting piece and back story :) |

Posted by JD Clay on 07/11/09 at 01:29 AM Oh, good one, Alison. A beautiful reunion for sure. I really like the double entendre using 'River' as the central theme. This is also a unique juxtaposition compared to the Pheonix having risen from the ashes. |
