I cannot function
in this space
you have left
I cannot exist
in the hollow of
your presence
The distance, its shadow,
the state lines crossed
are merely
attempts at confirming
what never needed
confirmation
What never required
clarity
what never searched,
journeyed
what never fell away
or apart
And yet you stand
and here I am helpless to
turn away
And yet you never cease
and in that I
never cease
