Moonlight Yearnings

by Maude Curtis

I look up in the sky at the lovely full moon,
Its face refelecting the saddness I feel,
That tonight we're not together still.
The ache in my heart is all that I know,
Cause I can't even tell you that I love you so.

I've longed many years for your love again,
You say you love me, but it's been quite a while,
And we're so far apart. I miss seeing your smile.
To feel your arms 'round me is all that I need.
My life would be complete, my heart would be freed.

But I know that someday you will finally come home.
They can call me crazy but I'll never give up.
I'll be waiting for you, we've lost time to make up.
So come home when you can, I swear I'll be here.
Cause I'll never quit believing in you, My Dear.

Real love never does quit believing or hoping, does it? This has quite a melancholy air about it. Leaves me in a quieted listening mood.

...you have[a yearn] for what is sorely missed, and tho' sad...it is [in itself] a glorious awaiting in our life...that leap of joy when you do get to meet again...i grin...wishing someone wants me like that--ever.

I love and echo what Charlie said above. I affirm you for the endurance of your love, you the marathon runner with rose in hand... hoping to give it off like a baton... Here's hoping that the other runner in the race slows down enough to find you again and to linger there for the gift that you are.
