Monarch

by Roger J Kenyon

Flutter by butterfly
Wafting on a breeze
Pass by my awe
Filled eyes as you
Arc around slim trees
On orange neon wings
A background of black
Wispy delicate things
Strength not their lack
An amazing creation
You feed then grow
Readying for a long
Trek south to Mexico.

"Flutter by butterfly" is one of the strongest opening lines I've heard in awhile. Does well for the floaty nature of the rest of the poem. Yeah. Floaty.

Really a nice, tight cohesive package you have here. The whole migration process amazes me for such delicate creatures. Congrats on POTD!

I love nature and nature poems. This is wonderful and well crafted. I love the flow and especially the last few lines where the rhythym culminates with excellence. Thanks for sharing and I enjoyed reading this very much.
