Crawl

by V. Blake

Emptiness swallowed the sun
And this needle thus resigned
To break the skin for things I’ve done
And what I’ve left behind
Inspiring sweet memories
To ensure, as they arrive
That they crawl back down inside of me
And eat themselves alive

I like the combination of darkness and light in this, the way it flows, and how the lines interact with one another. Would make a good opening poem for a novel. Welcome to Pathetic.org!

I agree with Chris, sounds like the beginning of novel - the kind I would feel driven, yet disturbed the drive, to read.

I like the way this flows. Though there's a feeling of sadness, there's this emptiness that comes through clearly. I had a friend who took this way out. This is very well done. So few words, but such a large impact.
