Righteous High

by Glenn Currier

There is no high
quite like the one I get
when I know I’m right.

Especially delicious
are those political fruits
the redder the better.

The keen succulence
of church hierarchy
matches no other.

A dose of sinners
enters my veins with
with a speedy snap.

A friend or kin in the wrong
like a nice full pull
from a joint or bong.

No wonder the prevalence
and earnest defense
of the righteous high.

Cool poem, Glenn....and the message comes though loud and clear. I love the way you have presented it here so true......sad that so many get so high this way...on their own self-righteousness.

Very nicely done Glenn. This resonates on sooo many levels that I wouldn't know where to begin. Consider me a fan of your work.

Quie humorous take on a feeling of "self righteousness". Wouldn't know about the joint or bong but you've captured brilliantly the sense of self satisfaction of the self righteous!
