The Closing of a Book by Ryan NardiHow now shall these poets pause to reflect
on a prose more poetic and rich with context?
How now shall the air sit too easy and soft
that a voice of gruff, honest severity's turned off?
Who's wry and dry jokes will garnish the gravity
of a much needed straight spoken poke at absurdity?
How can semesterly gatherings be the same?
They cannot.
And that is quite simply a shame.

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 06/05/09 at 03:49 AM Sorry to hear that, man. For what it's worth, this strikes me as a fine tribute. It's simple, right-to-the-bones poetry. You can't ask for much more than that. |
