Overhead Bloom by Wayne TateWhat watches so willingly
with eyes hushed
and fallen on hopes?
Giving a glance to the fall,
while letting the words sink in.
Standing.
Gauging the turn.
The wind fading.
Losing memories
so that I may forgive
Feeling humility,
as the day laments
the shadows on this cave
which you left within me.
Keeping up with your steps,
yet always falling behind.
Looking for a hand,
I surrounded my fingers with air
while running into walls.
Not realizing
that I needed to steer,
you left echoes
and imprints of your name
upon closet walls.
So I fell into the snow.
Surrounding myself with the white;
closing my eyes to embrace the black.
Huddled and hungry,
I warmed myself with soft cold.
Since that is all that I ever knew,
and all I ever found
within you. 12/04/2008 Author's Note: Thanks for the space.

Posted by Kris Mara on 06/04/09 at 01:44 PM ...this is such heartache...and speaks volumes of what's left in the end...as always, I love how you put ideas and images together, your word combinations... |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 06/05/09 at 03:54 AM Haunting, hypnotizing...heavy stuff Wayne. And I'm not trying to be facetious. It's sad but oh so beautiful at the same time. |
