Midnight After Rain (w/ Morgan Hafele)

by Anita Mac

It feels like the past
is colliding with now;
he never looked to the future before.

While his mind races through
an endless stream of her,
he is paralyzed in reflected glimmers...
Until he steps away, again.

And stares into a reflection of the moon
on a dirty puddle,
rainbow swirls of oil
casting silver shadows dancing
over his face

There is a filthy beauty to the world,
which can perhaps not be fathomed;
only accepted for what it is.

Deep breath escapes tight lips
and the memory of her
would not have hurt
any other time
but on a night like this

There are small things
and big things,
but the dizzying inertia seems to
keep it all just beyond his grasp;
a blurry photo he knows intimately.

A memory he tried to
burn away with nameless drugs, women
and endless nights of roaming
under the same reflection
that never forgets.

She isn't the moon,
but he worshipped her
just the same.

Author's Note: Morgs draws me up to his level, yet again. Although, I think our styles synced up quite a bit more than usual for this one. He must be rubbing off on me. ;o)

Brilliant work, you two.

some really great images in this -- for example (and not to exclude the rest of the piece by any means) the part about the moon in the puddle with the swirls of oil casting shadows on his face -- that's just an amazing combination highlighting how the beauty and magic of the moon can exist in the dirt of that puddle...and can be found in traces of his face, his consciousness...or rather all of us, no? Anyway, the whole piece has this feel and conveys that realness of what it is to be alive and not glossed over...and in the end, you leave us with that final thought to sum it up...very nice, kudos to you both :)

You both are very talented by yourselves, but this piece, you guys really came together. Definetly on the same level. And nothing against Moe, but you need to give your individual work a little more grecit darling.

up to my level? you're crazy <(^_^)>

because if this was an RPG, your level would be much higher than mine.

Just a detail, I know; for me, the piece deals with representations of reality, characterised by the moon's reflection appearing on, rather than in, the puddle. Of course, that might just be waffle, but then I'm obsessed with conflict. The superficial v the essential is an old favourite of mine -- how sad :>)
Anyway, another succulent fruit from the morg/amac darklight festival...

There is a filthy beauty to the world, which can perhaps not be fathomed; only accepted for what it is. -such beautiful words tied to such truth...thank you. fantastic!

There are poems, pieces of spark, works of art, than cannot be commented on, for they are beyond sublime ...
