blood and lipstick

by Mary Frances Spencer

black in those films
where fog swirls down alleys
white fingers clutch dramatic

guns cigarettes reflect silver
light
silhouettes beckon

die again
love
forever

Author's Note: O.K. I do enjoy how we inspire each other here...so giving some credit for this to a recent post "She was worth a stare. She was trouble." by Leopold Jones....enjoy! MFS

Very obviously noir, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. You nailed the image.

I did enjoy this write. Gabe said you nailed the image and he was right. Loved the last stanza!

ah, you know, as I was reading this, I was thinking of the piece you were inspired by! So well done! I love the images in it -- like watching at the edge of my seat in grainy film

I especially like the phrase "die again" - nice treatment of the photo I thought of while reading this that accompanies LJones' poem.

This is perfectly striking! I love it...
