Obituary notice

by A. Paige White

I buried us today.
You put up the tombstone.
Here lies those people we don't want to be.

I am truly sorry.
Jim tells me i've got pig flu.
I buried us today.

Reading this made me laugh (when I should have been sad). Sorry, but you've given this a "slipping on a banana peel" kind of twist!

I hope there's an afterlife. And it's interesting without pig flus needed :)

The serious message of that first stanza belies the cool funny of the second. The poem crackles with contrast.
