Life Refunds by Clara Mae GregoryHurricane's
winds possess lightning rain
and pellets homes, woodsoaked and swelling.
Home became an alluvial diseased dwelling.
Yet,lucky for us,we had no trouble selling.
Praise government buy-outs and gap funds.
Thanks, aspirin and tums.
Life refunds. 04/18/2009
Author's Note: I have been out enjoying the Spring weather and writing while soaking up some sun. I share some of what I have been working on, for most is still in development phases. This is not straight from my brain but it is from the heart and constructed with pieces of verses that have been flowing in my head for some time now.It is an exercise in writing. That is why I don't like it as much, yet I think it is good because it challenges one's writing skills. With that said, this is based on a challenge a friend shared with me, the Trois-par-Huit Challenge. It consists of:
1.3 stanzas(3,3,2 or 3,2,3 lines)
2.a syllable count per line of 3,6,9,12,12,9,6,3
3.a rhyme scheme of AAB BBC CC or AAB BB CCC
The last line should be the title and should summarize what the poem is about.
This was hard! And felt so unnatural yet I think it is a good writing exercise and I plan to try more and try other style as well.
