self-portrait in 48 words, night;

by Sophia Grace

i come to you in shadow to hide the
longing in the curve of my spine,
the ache of how do i tell you this
in each vertebrae, stacked taut
upon one another like a strand
of pearls, each one hidden behind the
creamy lustre of my shell.

Wow! I have never thought of vertebrae like this - love the strand of pearls image with the shell. Thank you.

Different approach to the look within and holding back of emotion...amazing introspection. smh
