The Envelope

by David Garner

all day long
he paces the hardwood floors
he showers multiple times
he even bathes to try to relax
he lies down for the briefest nap
he bounces up
as if afraid to die in sleep
he takes many swigs of water
he opens the same window many times
he takes deep breaths, some more shallow than others
he circles the coffee table
he stares at the letter
he picks it up
he tries to see through the paper
without opening it
he presses it firmly against a different window
he sits
pops up
his palms sweat
he just can't bring himself
to open up the letter
he paces more
he drinks more water
he showers yet again
drying off he's ready
he thinks to himself
he walks naked to the coffee table
circles it again
gets back in the shower
I'll just stay naked today
he thinks aloud
much easier to
jump in and out
and maybe naked
I can open up the letter
he sings out loud
I can do anything when I'm naked

Very, very weird, but very, very cool. You've definitely on to something with your characterization here.

you know, it's a weird thing about guys and being naked...you all seem to be so much more confident when you got nothing on...unlike us women, who are much more confident when we are dressed to the 9's!

An intense journey - you build it well with these quick actions and add a bit of oddity to the naked assumption. Definitely figured out a way to avoid the envelope. Ha! Thank you.

Is the next chapter "opening the envelope"? I want to read it!
