My Daughter's Visiting!

by Joan Serratelli

My daughter
called me yesterday
and told me
that she's
coming on Friday

I can't wait
to see her
and her kid
it seems like
it's been
a year

She asked me
whether I needed
anything
I said "No-
just bring
yourself"

We're watching
our grandson
that day
It'll be so nice
to see the cousins
laugh and play
It just might
cheer me up!

I wish I could
go out and buy
my daughter
and granddaughter
gifts
but just seeing them
will mean
so much to me
and I hope
she feels
the same

Author's Note: I haven't seen my daughter and granddaughter in months. I love them both so much and hope the visit goes well.

Oh. how I can relate to this! every single word, having just experienced such a wonderful visit last friday of daughter and grandaughters, whom I hadn't seen for months. The gift is there, in the being together, in the watching cousins laugh and play. Your poem is lovely, Joan. I can feel each heartbeat. lovelight&hugs...m.a

I was separated by distance from my family at one time and I'm so glad to have them close again. I'm sure their visit wll be wonderful.
