My Cousin by Joan SerratelliI have a cousin
who has been good
to me
When I was young
she took good care
of me
Even though
she is older
she never talked down
to me
instead she gave
me credit
for being
an intelligent
human being
Handicapped at birth,
she always knew
my co-ordination
was bad
but my mind
worked
just fine
She was more
like a sister
or a friend
to me
I loved her
dearly
and I always
will
I can remember
all the good
times
we shared
and
always wanting
to be
just like her!
She was my role model
and a good one
at that
honest, pretty, smart
and creative
Everything I wasn't
but wanted
to be
Everytime I speak
to her,
I smile
and remember our past 03/29/2009 Author's Note: I'm trying to write a poem for each member of my family. Thank G-d, I just have a few more to write!

This is a beautiful tribute. |
