Wishes

by Joan Serratelli

I wish
I could sing
I wish
I could dance
I wish
I could drive
and go where
I want

I would
get in my car
and go
anywhere I want
anywhere but here
That would be nice!

But I never
could sing
I never
could dance
but I could
drive
anywhere I wanted
to go

I could
shop
I could
cook
I could
do alot
of things

Those days
are long gone
just memories
to me

I wish....

Author's Note: Because of my condition, there are alot of things I am no longer able to do. I must learn to accept the things that I cannot change

Very song-like, inspite of your not being able to sing. I like the short lines very much.
