because i am doing this for my health

by Nanette Bellman

i've always been
a little too over the top
for my own good.
at least that's what
i'll tell the nightly news
when they send a reporter
to the scene
where i've handcuffed myself
to a bed in an exam room
at a doctor's office.

it really should have never
come down to this.
me, holding myself hostage and all.
because i'm just a simple girl
with a simple ransom.

no one needs to get hurt.
i'm not asking for
thousands or millions of dollars.
just give me some answers
and fix me already.

As I think I wrote before, Drs need to understand that they woork for us- we don't work for them. We pay them to give us answers, yet they think they can shuffle us off. The system has to change. People are gettimg sicker because of our heathcare system. Good luck- Ihope some Dr reads this and gives you some much needed help. Good write- one which alot of us can relate to.

I love that opening bit. It's a nice little declaration of war. Good stuff.

Love this, and might copy your idea here...

fix me already -- there's a declaration that seems to be echoing throughout society. i love the ownership in the beginning, how it feels almost like a therapy session... that goes awry.

this poem works splendidly well, Nanette, and I know all too well, the words within and their sentiments to be cured of something. anything. the all or nothing malady that we've got. please doc, please hurry our cure and then some, if not tell us what it is we suffer from.

I read this 5 or 6 times because I just like the way it makes me feel. Beautifully over the top and amusing.
