lightening spring

by Mary Frances Spencer

spiral down
magnetic darkness
intense negativity
attracts more

hides under the heavy
cloak fear
dire predictions
leaden footsteps
to nowhere

when light annoys
irritant spark
provoke
the hibernating
come out and taste

lightening of this storm
crack through clouds
melt the frozen
light a forgotten pyre

burn away bloated
as soft ashes fall

flower petal spring
must bloom
again
soon

Author's Note: Too much negative news out there right now....just seems to make everything darker. Is there anyway to see hope as Spring is just around the corner? MFS

I really enjoy the progression here, and particularly these lines "light a forgotten pyre burn away bloated as soft ashes fall".

Not really, but it's okay to hope anyway. Regardless of the season, good news is usually somewhere nearby. Nice work.

You've nailed a funk that prevades this time of year alright. I try to remember that if we had no winter, spring would not be so pleasant. Then look for the little things, spring begins, bud, by bud...Great write. Thanks.

It was sunny and 80 here in Myrtle Beach today. Sorry about that. Of course no one is working but those on the beach don't seem to mind.

I'm right there, right on that page! Nice write, MFS!

I agree with the doom and gloom every morning the news is going to start staying off until it starts reporting something positive and it may just be spring....nice write. smh
