keeping secrets by Kelly Jensenthe gradual moment elongates
wisps of cigarette smoke
in the empty evening
your tongue wrapped around a clove
winter sips at the epidermis,
knees locked
we like it more when it spreads the rumor
the essence critical & shallow
scatter-spread inconceivable, stunning
we lace the stars up by hand.
chantilly needle suffocated by machine
we're night murderers
body snatchers who steal the corpses
before the assaulting sun
hollowing out the echo of crickets
weaving desperate prayers in chime
you like the incineration & desecration
& i dissociate all together
in perpetual bitterness of black & white
snapshots, we decompose,
stretch linen to her limits
& make shadow puppets on bedroom ceilings
i see you in my martini glasses
between boxes in supermarket shelves
& in pink shirts you found in your father's basement
complete an evening with fine wine &
your lips on my cigarette 03/01/2006 Posted on 03/01/2009 Copyright © 2025 Kelly Jensen
