All We Need To Know by Ken HarnischI would talk to you
But the hours define us
And our availability
Is not always as we would choose
To have the conversation.
It frustrates me to see you
At night, and you, me
In the mornings, when
The coffee is running cold
And I am running hot
And off to work
I do not leave you lightly
Or undesiring of the need
To see it through. You are the
Only person now to whom
I can lay such timber
At your feet and you
Not think it is a burden.
Never think I do not appreciate
Your being here. Walking away
From you is never easy
When the need for expression
Is greater than the responsibilities
That carry me away.
But they do, and as
I must, as we must,
Await the patience
Of Opportunity, or let time
Do its usual best of
Making the issue at hand
Irrelevant
Because it seems
There is always another
To take its place.
In the end, we’re always
There for each other.
Perhaps that is all
We need to know. 02/10/2009 Posted on 02/10/2009 Copyright © 2025 Ken Harnisch

Posted by George Hoerner on 02/10/09 at 03:30 PM Issues at hand usually do slide and are replaced with more issues. But being there for each can trump just about any issue. Nice write Ken. |
