Winter blues

by Vikki Owens

Last night,
I dreamed
that the new buds of spring
were peeking from the trees,
glistening in
the diamond drops of newly melted snow.

I dreamed
that the tiny sprouts
of long-ago planted bulbs
and fresh new things
were popping through the soft
wet dirt, winking green
against the robins-egg blue
of a cloudless sky.

I could feel the sun
touch my shoulders and my arms
as I moved un-bundled-up through
the outside world
with just the hint of a fresh breeze...
I raised my hands to touch the lowest tree branch
on the maple tree
in my back yard,
just to see in close up, technicolor vision
the tiny little harbingers
of warmer days...

I prefer winter, but, you know...heh. Great stuff, as always.

Congratulations on POTD for this piece and certainly well deserved. It is fresh as spring and just as delightful. Nicely done.

Congrats on POTD! I enjoyed how this dream unfolded.

After yesterday, Spring seems so far away. It's sooooo cold here, but I, too, dream of Spring- new beginning; new life. Congrats on a well deserved POTD!
