Benevolence v. Malevolence

by Anastasia Shows

the fly on the wall saw the spider's web
he pined for the spider and couldn't look away.
for he thought her to be quite the celeb.

at last he flew to her; and forever he would stay
for he was now caught in her lair.
the cost of infatuation; a high price to pay.

he closed his eyes tightly to avoid her stare.
those steely hungry eyes
that seems to say, "your life i will not spare"

he screamed for help, but there was no one to hear his cries.
he prayed for rescue from this mistake,
as the spider inched closer to claim her prize.

'Twas then that the web came to break
by the hands of a human child
the fly with terror began to shake

for humans were thought to be vicious not mild,
and he expected his last minutes to involve sheer gore.
a shadow came over, and his heart beat wild.

he thought surely this was death knocking at his door
but when he opened his eyes, it was the spider who was no more.

...anastasia, this is cute bordering on heavy, good, cool write...also you tagged this pome[sic]as explicit, is it? or just good.

The form and word play definitely sneaks some of the heavier thoughts in this into the back of your mind, if that makes sense. Heh.
