The Ache is Real (Eternity and the Breathless Seconds Between)

by T.J. Carver

I read your words again
today
and found that underneath it all
the dust
the wound still aches,
forms
that familiar void that came

knowing only the pain
from your touch
of having you
halving you.

Events play back inside
all too often
and I try to fix it again,
what had become broken
but it slowly slips away
falls to my feet as dust.

But the images fade
dust coating your words
and, though the wound may ache,
when I clear it all away
my heart still burns for you
the ache is not what I supposed:

Every moment we're apart
eternity and the breathless seconds between
makes me love you even more;
makes me cherish you
makes me cherish you.

Almost a whisper echo going on here. I like this a lot, especially "dust coating your words".

I'm going to go with that whisper comment, because that definitely ran through my mind when I was reading it as well. Good stuff.
