{my child}1-24-09

by Shonda Creemer

a simple brown box
that held so much

i gently opened it
ice blue chiffon
baby doll neckline
buttons all the way
down the back
sparkles that reminded
me of snowflakes

i looked up
and my grandmother's eyes
were filled with tears

as i slipped it over my head
my momma said

it's beautiful
simply perfect
and
he will love you in it

Heartbreaking. More so, because it's absolutely true. Beautiful.
