Retreating to My Illusory Realm

by Jared Orlando

I’ve seen better days;
I’ve been to much better places
At least in my head
Where the vibrancy is deafening
Soundtracks of footsteps
Waltzing and weaving in between
Miles of buildings and rays of sunlight.
It seems,
I’ve never been alone
Here in my head
And it seems that I dance
With you, and only you,
While neurons burst
Around our faraway eyes.
My tongue dries out, and you
Quench.
My feet give out, and you
Carry.
Reality tries to bring us back, and you
Contest.
We exist here in dreams,
Where time is only the sound of ticks;
Hours are only kisses;
Seconds are the scuffles of feet;
These sequences of vivid imagination
Are what I’ve come to live for;
You and I on clouds of thought
And the only thing keeping us afloat
Is all that just would not work
Down here on terra firma
Where things actually matter.

This is dream like, you have let us into your realm and it is wistful. smh

As far as I'm concerned, you can retreat whenever you want to, man, because the stuff you're bringing back to this is just great. Some of your best imagery I think I've ever seen out of you.
