Finding The Unexpected

by George Hoerner

unexpected time
unexpected place
both faced
as i slid from
between your legs
oh mother of mine

spitting, kicking, and crying
forced to face
reality and loss
as hence begins
the eternal quest

to re-enter the womb
from which we came
and wish to return
looking for the warmth
and comfort never
quite found anywhere else

I love that last stanza most of all. Obviously, because it's winter. Heh. Nice write, man. As always.

...and there's no going back. I wonder how many of us acknowledge this regressive wish in the final analysis? Primal piece of writing George :>

birth is the plague and the tragedy which befalls us all, my friend, even the womb which is never the same after giving up custody of us all, to have her fruit venture into colder climes as was never the intention, or was it? after all, they say we are fallen and until we can get back on our feet perhaps in the interim we can all do like cats do on window sills and curl around ourselves if only for warmth until we are back in the womb's fold.
