Go Ahead, Throw That Stone

by Ken Harnisch

Pick up the stone
And throw it
As far as you can
Watch it skip across the water
Which was still before you flung
And wonder if the riot that ensued
Was due more to your aim
Than the quiet flat of that
Pond across which you hurled
Your rock just to see
If you could create the very
Tempest your right arm
Knew might rise on
Its follow-through

Human beings being such
Insatiable, incorrigible shit-stirrers
After all.

"The riot that ensued--"--I love that. It's a great image to a great poem.

Oooh! I love the force and passion here...so raw and wonderful...I find myself reading it again and again just to experience the power in your expression.

Yes, we do things just because sometimes. Just because silence needs to broken, we deem it that way for some reason. The imagery in this is amazing. Good job.

I like this passion and observation in one gesture.

The thoughtful simplicity of this stirs my memory... I can almost feel the soreness in my right arm. I am a $#%@ stirrer from way back. These days I am a LITTLE MORE likely to just sit and enjoy the placid waters and imagine what lies beneath. Thanks Ken.

I am so glad I found this. Thank you for saying something!
