No More Poetry by Don Matley
Its all been said
In all the ways
In all the rhymes
In all the times
In dactyls and spondees
By bards and cards
In verse so terse
In lines so fine
All ideas and sentiments expressed
All the Muses finally at rest.
So why do I bother to pen this poem?
Why not put up my feet, never to roam
Trying to say something profoundly quick
In a world so tried,so fast and slick?
Perhaps because the ear is dear to me
And words on paper spoken are a symphony
Perhaps there is no rhyme nor reason for the pen
OK.no more poetry I am done.
Yet even then I dip the quill
And I am writing still!
