Flags by George Hoernerflags like sails
speak in the wind
of countries, castles, kings,
churches, clubs, and things.
their meanings are muddled
for few of us know
their history so shrouded
in the mystery of the mind
patterns of colored cloth
bring to mind
through a moment of time
feelings of courage,
pride, and fate
waved by children and parents
burned by terrorists
fueling fires of hate
symbols of patriotism
politics, power and purity
sparking revolution

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 04/13/09 at 12:25 PM George, I love this. I think when winds and flags come to wed on the altar of the ether,
there are little flags and little winds
to look forward to kindling on the knee. |
