this big woman

by Charlie Morgan

Odie splayed in a streak of warm sunlight;
enjoying the early morning of a dog's life.

the phone rings. it's this big woman, Jan.
she's five foot nothing in her stocking feet.

but you run out of tape and scales to measure
her heart, Himalayas of care for the World.

bringing light to darkness, she's a beacon.
a subtle, loving grin always on the ready;

diminutive, sure. an oak o' care in full-bud.
accepting each day as it is a gift of love.

a cheap-thrill to see her truck; a chessboard
of stories await our morning cup of ol' joe.

yeah,

"an oak o' care in full-bud." - I adore that line. My new fav or yours, and yes, a feel good poem is just the ticket today. THank you!
