tone

by Frank Lee

there was a complicated
curious
tone (in the way she said)
i love you

i guess i got the paranoid
blues
but i aint believe a word she
said it was like
some worthless news

and if i could have said something
well i guess i already did
and if my word
it meant for something
well then, i'll ask for you to forgive

my family, we, were supposed to be together
for one
one last glorious night
and i, i, was there to witness the, well,

i guess you could call it
(spectacular)
fight.
fight against what had been calling
fight against truth, love, and time.

fight against what,
what was aching,
aching to know the difference between a dime (Bag)
maybe passion is a crime

so i shrug..
i shrug off these feelings
feelings of what you want me to feel
and i loathe in indifference and i guess

i reveal

a cooler, calmer, sense of being,
and i guess that's what is the appeal

Damn those paranoid blues, eh? At least you get some good writing out of it.

Captivating slice of (romantic) instrospection Frank. Thanks also for your comment on my latest.

A soul blues; loss of love, a dysfunctional relationship, disintegration of family.
