Tranquil Human

by Alison McKenzie

Who can comprehend
The rhythm of the snow?
Who can count the prisms
As they land in tandem, scattered
Across field and lot?

Oh, but we do feel it,
Don’t we?
The pristine quiet,
A planet of chaos
Buried by tranquility.

Hush now, world,
Sleep and rekindle
Hope and goodness,
Dreams revealed
By our humanity
Forced to rest.

"A planet of chaos Buried by tranquility." The snow really is an opportunity to slow down, isn't it? I loved that last stanza.
