Jones Drive

by Amy Wustrin

She can't get out
Of her own way
She can't get off
This dead end street

The air gets
Thicker everyday
It's getting harder
Just to breathe

Open windows
Closing doors
It's not as easy
As before

Everything was
Almost right
But almost doesnt
Win the fight

I can see where
I got lost
And heaven knows
I've paid the cost

But, Oh! My faith
Don't fail me now
I've got to pull
This off somehow

Quiet desperation
In a
Sleepy suburb
River town

It's called hitting
Rockland-bottom
And it's spreading
Like a rumor now

You know what
I'm saying I know
You know
What I mean

I hear it's like
This everywhere
And what a wasteful
Shame that seems

This whole world
Is growing desperate
But for what
We can't agree

Eternal is
The struggle shut
To focus till
We all can see

"It's called hitting Rockland-bottom And it's spreading Like a rumor now." --That's a great, great line. Here's to getting the hell out of dodge. Terrific work.

I know there's music to this, and I look forward to hearing it. And you know I love the "hitting Rockland-bottom" verse. <3 M
