Personal Gifts-Happy Holidays

by Sandy M. Humphrey

My pocket is empty Christmas Fund is bare
But surely there is something I could find to share
With friends and loved ones who brighten my days
Bringing joy and happiness in so many ways
I tried making no bakes but they turned out runny
Making coat hanger ornaments not cute or funny
Popcorn and Chex-Mix I used too much salt
Seems everything I touched had some kind of fault
Maybe that is the lesson in what my gift can be
The gift of self does not have to be given perfectly
Accepting we are who we are unique in our own way
As we give to one another a bit of self each and every day
I have friends that make me laugh when I am blue
Shoulders to lean on when times are tough to get through
Family that holds together in good times and bad
People who love me when I am happy or sad
Talented and gifted people who amaze me with art
World informed and soul-to-soul who speak to my heart
Who ever and wherever you are this season
I really do not need a reason

To say Thank You for being you and have Holiday Cheer
Peace and Good Will in the coming New Year

So refreshing, Sandy. So true, gratitude is something of which none of us can give too much. For on the smiles, the thanks we give, our little gestures of appreciation, our neighbors build up their philosophy of life, and their gratitude with come back to us ten-fold. Merry Christmas and thank you!

Doesn't sound too bad. A nice sentiment indeed.

Heartfelt - it's always refreshing to read unabashed thankfulness. Lovely sentiments.

Indeed, it's the thought that counts, and I'm thinking that these sentiments count significantly in conveying the true spirit of Xmas...and gratefully received by this reader Sandy :>
