The Creepy Christmas Creeper

by Jennifer Ragan

The creepy Christmas creeper
lurks inside my Christmas tree
out of sight behind the lights
waiting to scare me

He scurries through the branches
promenading as he goes
over the gleaming garland
creeping among the bows

From atop the shining star
He dangerously dangles
like a creepy ornament
hanging webs in tangles

Clinging from the candy canes
he spins his threads of torment
wraps the sweets with sticky strings
a creepy christmas present

He weaves all day and all night
my Christmas tree is gnarled
from the creepers creepy mesh
knotted up and snarled

Beware the Christmas creeper
for the creeper never sleeps
creeping round your Christmas tree
giving the Christmas creeps

I'm not fond of Christmas, but I won't say no to a good Christmas poem. Nicely done.

This is so doggone cute and clever - you make me think like a kid again, which is what I need from time to time. Thank you.

A Christmas lark! A touch of humor, a sprinkle of fear, brings a certain smile from ear to ear!
