First Table Buzz Kill

of last year's Christmas season
but recently
I have really noticed
the economy's affect
on this year's tips
and every shift
I go in thinking
this will be a great day
to make some money
and with the letdown
always at the beginning,
that first table buzz kill,
being mentally
"set up for success"
means little
as I endure
last year's expectations
